We are going to War!!

(though no-one is that keen)
Today - March 18 2003...
we are going to support the US and their war.
How do I feel about this as an Australian?
as a person?
as a Catholic?

The Most Important thing in the World?

Okay, so what am I talking about?
The most important thing in the world is... Empathy!

Okay, I haven't really thought about this much and I like to make
simple yet sweeping statements. I like things to be neat, so I
try to make generalisations.
Anyway, I think it's a very important thing, and maybe I will think about it
and get back to you about whether it is THE most important thing.
Get back to you after this life... :-)

Empathy - understanding and entering into anothers feelings.
See the important point is that you not only understand how they feel
but you actually feel - to an extent - how they feel.
I mean *really* feel. You experience the emotions / sensations.
That's real empathy.

the mind

Well, I'm back and blogging tired again.
I think it's ok to sleep-blog. Maybe the hind-brain will pop out some
interesting stuff. I came down here to blog about 2.5 hours ago
and have only just started. Don't know where the time went...

I've always been very interested in how the brain works.
At uni I did an I.T. degree - majoring in Artificial Intelligence.
I loved the A.I. side of the degree - it is fascinating.
Unfortunately not a lot of jobs in that area. Maybe I could have pursued it
further if I had achieved as good results in other areas of my degree. ;-)
Anyway, I'm always interested when something happens that gives an
insight into how the brain works - the mechanics of it if you like...
So - here is what inspired this blog. The tip of the tongue...
What on earth is going on when you are trying to recall something and
it is "on the tip of your tongue??"
You know that you know the answer. Not only that, but know you have almost
accessed the information. How do you know that you have 'almost' retrieved the
answer when you don't actually have the answer? get back to you on that when I'm a bit more awake...
g'night. ;-0
